The Government of Andhra Pradesh has introduced the AP Jagananna Gorumudda Scheme by making changes to the Mid-Day Meal Scheme. The Jagananna Gorumudda Scheme has been announced on 21 January 2020 by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. With the introduction of this scheme, changes have been made in the mid-day meal menu available to students in government schools.
The Jagananna Gorumudda Scheme is a revised mid-day mill scheme of the Government of Andhra Pradesh. Under this, the Andhra Pradesh government will work to improve the nutritional outlook in the food available in government schools all week. Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy informed about the changes made in the Mid-Day Meal Scheme during the Vidhan Sabha session.
For years, students of government schools have been benefiting from the mid-day meal scheme. Students belonging to poor families get mid-day meals in government schools all the week through this scheme. Keeping this in view, Jagananna Gorumudda Scheme has been started with the aim of providing nutritious food to the students while improving the nutritional approach.

This menu has been made keeping in mind the nutritional requirements of school students, in which changes will be made in food throughout the week. On Monday, where students are offered rice, chickpeas preparations and egg curry, boiled eggs, tomato lentils, and puliohara will be available on Tuesday’s menu.
Wednesday’s menu will include Aalu kurma, vegetable rice, chickpeas preparations, and boiled egg. To maintain school students’ enjoyment of food, on Thursday, boiled egg, khichdi and tomato sauce will be included. On Friday, students will be served rice, chickpeas preparations, asparagus, and boiled eggs. Finally, on Saturday, students will get sweet Pongal, rice and sambar.
AP Jagananna Gorumudda Scheme Implementation
Guidelines have been given to the officials concerned by the Chief Minister Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy for the implementation of the new revised mid-day mill scheme. The implementation of this scheme will be as follows: –
- All District Education Officers (DEO’s) have been instructed to take all necessary steps to implement the new revised Mid-Day Mill Scheme.
- Under the Mid-Day Mill Scheme, it will be mandatory to provide boiled egg to students studying in government schools, education bodies, madrasas four times a week.
- Along with this, the DEO has been directed to ensure that the MDM bills of the previous month are submitted to the Treasury Office by the 5th of every month and paid by the 10th of every month.
- The Chief Minister has announced an increase in honorarium for mid-day meal workers while giving instructions for implementation of the Jagananna Gorumudda Scheme.
