Anil Malik, Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, announced that the pilot phase of the new program is set to commence in two to three weeks. Initially launched in 27 districts, the program is planned to expand to 218 districts nationwide.

The initiative, titled ‘Introduction of Special Project for Empowering Adolescent Girls & Women,’ focuses on training girls aged 14 to 18 in non-traditional employment sectors, where less than 25% of the workforce is of either gender. Training will be provided near their homes and schools to ensure it complements their education.

The pilot program will offer training in non-traditional job categories, digital skills, digital marketing, and general personality development. The goal is to increase female participation in the workforce, with a broader rollout expected to follow the successful implementation of the pilot phase.

We have partnered with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship to train teenage girls in 27 districts initially, with plans to expand to 218 districts. The agreement ensures that girls aged 14 to 18 will receive training in non-traditional roles through government institutions, Jan Shikshan Sansthan, and Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana training partners. The Secretary noted that this program is expected to lead to an increased number of women entering the workforce and will be launched “very soon at the highest level of the government.”

The initiative, titled ‘Introduction of Special Project for Empowering Adolescent Girls & Women,’ will provide ongoing education along with training near their homes and schools. Its primary objective is to significantly increase the proportion of women in the workforce and includes components such as personality development, digital marketing, and digital skills training.
