Kerala Vidya Jyothi Scheme 2022
Assistance will be provided to Class 9th, 10th, +1, +2, ITI, Polytechnic, VHSc, Degree, Diploma, Vocational courses and Post-Graduation scholars with Disabilities and Disabled students under the Kerala Vidyajyothi Scheme 2021. Assistance will be transferred to all the beneficiaries through direct benefit transfer (DBT) directly to the bank account. The main objective of the Kerala Vidyajyothi Scheme is to provide support for the educational upliftment of students with disabilities. More recently, a state-wide disability survey was conducted by the Department of Social Justice under the Kerala Social Security Mission. According to this survey, there are 7,79,793 different types of disabled persons in the state, out of which 1,30,799 are under 18 years of age. Out of these, to encourage students with disabilities in particular, the government will provide financial assistance for the purchase of uniforms and study material.

Objectives of Kerala Vidyajyothi Program
Under this scheme financial assistance will be provided to PWD students of ninth, tenth, +1, +2, ITI, polytechnic, VHSC, degree, diploma, vocational courses as well as post graduation. The assistance amount will be distributed directly to all the beneficiaries through DBT. The Department of Social Justice, with the help of Kerala Social Security Mission, directed disability studies in a state-wide youth. Beneficiaries will be selected based on the data obtained from it. At present, there are 7,79,793 different types of disabled people, of which 1,30,799 are under 18 years of age.

All the students whose disability percentage is 40% or more on the following basis will be given financial assistance based on the given table.

Eligibility Criteria
All the desirous students who wish to become eligible for Kerala Vidyajyothi Scheme must fulfil the eligibility criteria given.
- Only those studying in government / aided institutions are eligible for application.
- A certified copy of the certificate issued by the Medical Board to the applicant verifying that the applicant has 40% or more disability.
- The annual family income of the applicant is not applicable for this scheme.
- It is mandatory to verify the duly filled application form from the government / aided institution.
- Priority should be given to BPL category students.
