FAME India Scheme New Update

We all know that FAME India Scheme was launched through the Government of India, and the monitoring authority of this Scheme is the Department of Heavy Industries, Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises. Under this scheme, it was started to control the pollution caused by the pollution of vehicles running on diesel and petrol. this scheme consists of two phases i.e. Phase I: Phase I was started in the year 2015 and ended on 31st March 2019 and Phase II: Phase II was started in April, 2019. This is still a work in progress and by whom. It is terminated by the government on 31 March 2022, but now it has been told by the government that it has been extended, now it will be run for another 2 years.

Some of the features of Fame India Scheme Phase 2 are as follows:

  • The main aim of this Scheme Phase 2 is to support, through subsidies, approximately 7000 e-Buses, 5 lakh e-3 Wheelers, 55000 e-4 Wheeler Passenger Cars, and 10 lakh e-2 Wheelers.
  • Also, the two-wheeler segment will be mainly focused on the private vehicles of the residents of the metropolitan cities.
  • Also many of the charging stations which will be made under this scheme by the government of India to inspire electrical vehicles and the utilization of electricity rather than diesel or petrol.
  • It gives significance on electrification of the public transportation which include shared transport.
  • In 3-Wheel (W) and 4-Wheel (W) segment incentives will be applicable mostly to vehicles used for public transport or registered for commercial purposes.
  • In the 2-Wheel (W) segment, the focus will be on the private vehicles.
  • To inspire modern technologies, the benefits of inducement will be expanded to only those vehicles which are shaped with new batteries like a Lithium Ion battery and other new technology batteries.
  • This scheme put forward the initiation of charging infrastructure, by which about 2700 charging stations would be established in metros in million plus cities, smart cities and cities of Hilly states across the country so that there will be accessibility of at the minimum one charging station in a grid of 3 km x 3 km.
  • Initiation of charging stations are also put forwarded on vital highways connecting vital city clusters.
  • On such highways, charging stations will be initiated on both sides of the road at an interval of about 25 km each.
