Digital Seva Setu Yojana 2024
Gujarat government has announced the commencement of Gujarat Digital Seva Setu Yojana phase 1 on 8 October 2021. In this program, the state government has connected 3,500 gram panchayats with 100 Mbps optical fiber network. This is a revolutionary step of the government towards changing the public service delivery system in the rural areas of the state and realizing the dream of Digital Gujarat. Gujarat State Government has launched the first phase of Digital Public Service Delivery Revolution – Digital Seva Setu. The program will facilitate online availability of public welfare services. Gujarat State Government will provide various public welfare e-services to rural citizens through digital service bridge at its doorstep.
Objective of Gujarat Digital Seva Setu
The Gujarat Digital Seva Setu program Phase 1 is an initiative under the BharatNet Project of the Central Government. The program is intended to ensure optimal use of technology for public welfare and will usher it into the “historic administrative revolution”. As part of the program, all public welfare services will be available in e-village offices in each panchayat. Through the digital service bridge, villagers will not have to visit taluka or district-level offices to avail public welfare services. By the month of December this year, about 8,000 gram panchayats will be provided with high speed internet service. Launch of Digital Seva Setu Program
Gujarat Digital Seva Setu Yojana has been launched on 8 October 2020. First, it was started in about 2700 villages in the state of Gujarat. This model code of conduct is applicable in the villages under 8 assembly constituencies, where elections are to be held on November 3, 2020. The officials concerned say that by December 2020, there will be a target of providing high-speed Internet service in about 8000-gram panchayats. The Chief Minister of Gujarat has also given information about the same project on Twitter.
Benefits of Digital Seva Setu Scheme
The objective of the Gujarat government’s Digital Seva Setu Yojana is to provide fast and uninterrupted services to the people by eliminating the need for corruption or middlemen. The state government will start Phase I with 20 services, and gradually offer 50 services in the villages. All 14,000 gram panchayats in the state of Gujarat will be covered under the program. Digital Service Bridge Phase 1 will use digital service and remove corruption in administration. The state government will complete connecting the remaining villages of Gujarat with high-speed internet by 2021.
It has been started under the Centre’s Bharat Net project to connect gram panchayats through an optical fiber network. The Government of Gujarat has laid about 83% optical fiber network. Under the digital service bridge program, gram panchayats will be connected to the state data center in Gandhinagar.
