The State Government recently launched the Permanent Housing Scheme for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs),whose houses got damaged and burned down during the recent violence. The scheme was launched during the function held at Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Thursday evening, also provided the financial assistance for construction of permanent houses to some selected beneficiaries under the scheme. Chief Minister of Manipur Mr. Nongthomban Biren Singh handed over financial assistance for the construction of permanent houses to some selected beneficiaries from Imphal East, Kakching, and Bishnupur districts under the scheme. An amount of Rs. 10 Lakh for the construction of damaged or burned down pucca houses, Rs. 7 Lakh for semi-pucca houses and Rs. 5 Lakh for kutcha houses will be provided to more than 4800 beneficiaries across the state. Government is providing beds for the displaced people with the onset of winter season.

Objective of the Permanent Housing Scheme

Primary objective of the Housing Scheme is to provide housing facility to the people who have lost their houses in the recent violence that happened in Manipur.

Another objective of the Housing Scheme is to provide the financial assistance as well.

Benefits of the Scheme

Here we have provided some benefits that are recently launched by the State Government:

  • Amount of Rs. 10 Lakh for the construction of damaged or burned down pucca houses, Rs. 7 Lakh for semi-pucca houses and Rs. 5 Lakh for kutcha houses will be provided to more than 4800 beneficiaries across the state.
  • Housing will be provided from the Manipur government to the victims. Government will provide an additional Rs. 476 crore for various relief measures.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for the housing scheme are described below:

  • The permanent resident of the Manipur are eligible.
  • Whose house are affected during violence after 3rd May are eligible.
  • Any type of house that were affected like Pucca, Semi Pucca and Kutcha House are eligible.
