Through this scheme, houses will be provided to the flood affected families who lost their houses in the incidents of October 3 and 4. State of Sikkim has suffered a lot of damage due to severe floods,which has affected the people’s life. Many people died due to flood, since they have become homeless, many students have left their studies midway. To revive such people, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang has launched a new scheme. Through this scheme, housing facilities will be provided to the families affected by floods. Sikkim Government will provide benefits to all such people who are affected by theTeesta tragedy.

The objectives of the scheme are as follows:
- The primary objective is to help the people who have completely lost their houses due to heavy floods.
- To provide housing facilities to the eligible beneficiaries under this scheme.
Benefits & Features of Sikkim Punarwas Awas Yojana

- According to the information, 1423 houses have been completely demolished so far.
- The government will provide land through the scheme to those people who do not have the right land to build a house.
- The government will construct about 2100 houses in the first phase.
- The government will make arrangements for fees under this scheme for such students who will not be able to pay the fees for higher education.
- Apart from this, the government will provide a loan of up to Rs 10 Lakh to those who have lost their shops or businesses due to floods to restart their business.
- Also, 2 years interest on this loan will be given by the government. That means the government will give loan without interest.
