WB Kharif Paddy Procurement Scheme 2024
About 13 lakh farmers have been nominated by the concerned organization under the WB Kharif Paddy Procurement Scheme. According to information, about 7,200,000 paddy farmers will be registered under this scheme. The government will also purchase about 45 quintals of paddy from each farmer. The price of paddy has not yet been decided by the authorities concerned. Under the new scheme to be launched, the government’s Food and Civil Supplies Minister Jyotipriya Mallik said that more than 30 lakh farmers are expected to be listed. He said that; “out of 72 lakh paddy farmers in West Bengal, about 13 lakh have listed themselves for this scheme”. The officials concerned also said that they are planning to reach more and more farmers under this scheme. PDS will not be supplied with rice under this scheme. The scheme will launch in the month of December.

Benefits of the Scheme
The main benefit will be provided to those farmers who are getting low sale prices on their paddy and rice. The concerned officials of the Government of West Bengal will obtain about 45 quintals of paddy from each farmer to help them in the long run. The prices will also be given as per the selling price fixed by the Government of West Bengal. In FY 2019, the maximum procurement of paddy increased to 90 quintal at Rs 1,868 per quintal on MSP per farmer.
