As per West Bengal Kanyashree Prakalpa Scheme 2022, Prakalpa financial assistance will be provided to girls who are aged between 13 to 18 years of age and enrolled in 8th to 12th grade. An income criterion has also been set for applying under the scheme, but this income criterion does not apply to girls who have special needs, orphan children, and girls from JJ homes.

Two types of incentives are provided under the West Bengal Kanyashree Prakalpa Yojana, which are as follows.

Under this scheme, girls in the age group of 13 to 18 years from class 8th to 12th will be provided an annual scholarship of Rs 750 per annum.
When the girl child turns 18, a lump sum grant of Rs 25000 to that student, provided she is given as academic or vocational.

Main Objective of West Bengal Kanyashree Prakalpa Scheme 2022

We know that there are some girls in our country who, being financially weak, are unable to pursue their education. Most of the girls are found to be illiterate in families whose economic condition is weak. In today’s time, it is considered very important for girls to be educated. In view of this problem, West Bengal Kanyashree Prakalpa Scheme 2022 has been started by the West Bengal Government. The main objective of WB Kanyashree Prakalpa is to provide financial assistance to the girls of the state, so that the girls can continue their education. This scheme has been started mainly to stop child marriage. For this purpose, the government of West Bengal is providing financial assistance annually if the girl is continuing her education till the 12th standard. So that parents are motivated to educate their girls and delay their marriage till at least 18 years of age.

The following two types of incentives will be provided under West Bengal Kanyashree Prakalpa-

Through this scheme, an annual scholarship of Rs 750 per year is provided to girls aged between 13 and 18 and studying in class 8 to 12, provided that they are unmarried at that time.
An amount of Rs 25000 will be provided once the girl turns 18, provided that she is engaged in academic or professional search and unmarried.

Benefits of West Bengal Kanyashree Prakalpa Scheme

Under West Bengal Kanyashree Prakalpa, the girls of the state will be provided financial assistance by the government for their education.
Through this scheme, child marriage can be controlled and girls’ education can be promoted till the age of 18 years.
The condition of girls will be improved through this scheme launched by the state government.
Through this scheme girls will be provided financial assistance of Rs 750 per year.
Financial assistance is being provided by the government to the girls who study from class 8th to 12th or girls from the age of 13 to the age of 18.
Under the Kanyashree Prakalpa 2022 school, a lump sum amount of Rs 25,000 will also be provided to the girls, when the age of the girls is over 18 years.
This monetary benefit will be directly transferred to the bank account of the beneficiary.

Eligibility Criteria for West Bengal Kanyashree Prakalpa

To avail this scheme, you have to fulfil the given eligibility criteria as follows-

Applicants who wish to apply under this scheme are required to be native of West Bengal.
To apply under this scheme, the age of the applicant must be 13 years to 18 years.
The candidate should be enrolled in class 8 to class 12 or equivalent.
It is mandatory for the applicant’s family to have an annual income of Rs 1,20,000 or less otherwise she will not be considered eligible under the scheme.
This income criterion is waived for orphan girls with special needs, and girls living in JJ homes.
Girls who are studying below class 8 will also be considered eligible for this scheme.
The scheme has also been introduced for various vocational, technical and sports courses.
